About
Why this exists, and who's building it.

Plane and Simple started because one hobby, taken too seriously, produces a surprising amount of paperwork. A year in, after going down the rabbit hole on every tool and technique that crossed the shop -- what a router bit profile actually does, why one species tears out and another doesn't, which spec on a band saw actually matters -- there was a pile of notes that didn't exist anywhere else on the web in one place. YouTube is, genuinely, the best resource this hobby has. It just isn't organized, and the good channels are scattered across a hundred bookmarks nobody else can see. This site is an attempt to put the reference material in one place instead.
Everything here gets the same treatment that going down those rabbit holes did the first time: check it carefully, write it down properly, and don't pretend to know something that wasn't actually verified. That's the whole editorial standard.
This is a passion project, not a business. There's no Amazon Associates account behind the recommendations and no ads running on the site right now -- Shopping Guide picks get posted because they're worth sharing, not because something's paying to be here. There is merch, and there may eventually be ads or an affiliate program if the traffic justifies it, but the actual goal is modest: cover the cost of running the site and keep the motivation up to hold the same rigor in the writing that got put into learning the craft in the first place. Nobody's trying to get rich off a router bit catalog.
Projects get posted to Instagram as they come off the bench -- find them (and say hello) at @double.jump.studio.
