Privacy Policy

Short version: we don't want your data any more than you want to give it to us. Here's the actual detail.

What we collect

Your region, currency, unit (imperial/metric), and light/dark theme preferences are stored in your browser's local storage only — they never reach our servers. Clear your browser data and they're gone.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for traffic numbers. It's cookieless and doesn't build a profile of you across sites — it counts page views, not people.

Comments

If you leave a comment, we store the name you give, what you wrote, which page it's on and when — in our own database on Cloudflare, not a third-party comment service. To slow down spam we also keep a scrambled, one-way fingerprint of your IP address; it can't be turned back into the address. No email, no account. Comments appear only after we've read them, and if you want one taken down, email us and it's gone.

Ads

This site runs (or plans to run) Google AdSense. Once live, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits here and elsewhere. If you're in the EU, UK, or a similar jurisdiction, you'll be asked to consent to that before any personalized ad loads. You can manage ad personalization directly at Google Ad Settings.

Some links on this site (marked with a disclosure right above them, mainly on the Shopping Guide) go to Amazon search results. We're not an Amazon Associate and don't earn a commission from them — they're there because they're genuinely good starting points, not because anyone paid for the placement.

Images

Some photos on this site come from Wikimedia Commons under their original open licenses — full attribution lives under each one. The rest (the build photos, illustrations, diagrams and renders) are our own. Every image is served from this site; none of them load from anyone else's servers.

What we don't do

No accounts, no email collection, no selling data — there isn't any of yours to sell. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
