This walnut end-grain checkerboard board turned out better than I expected.

This walnut end-grain checkerboard board turned out better than I expected. I went into glue-up assuming at least three squares would end up crooked out of pure spite. Somehow the end grain lined up, the juice groove doesn’t look like it was carved by a toddler, and the finish actually leveled instead of pooling in the corners like it usually does. Now it’s just sitting on the counter looking nicer than anything else in my kitchen, guarding a plate of cookies and some bananas that did nothing to earn this much competition. #woodworking #endgraincuttingboard #cuttingboard #checkerboardpattern #woodshop glueup diywoodworking handmade kitchenwoodworking woodworkingproject finishing thetestcut
