Ogee

An ogee is a molding profile combining one concave and one convex curve into a single continuous S-shaped line -- among the most recognizable and widely used classical molding profiles, showing up on furniture edges, cornices, picture frames, and architectural trim alike. The name comes from architecture, where the same double-curve shape defines the classic pointed "ogee arch."

Because the profile reverses direction partway through its cut, an ogee bit or cutter is more complex to grind than a simple single-curve profile like a cove or roundover, and the resulting edge reads as noticeably more ornate and traditional than either of those simpler shapes on its own.
