Caribbean Heart Pine

Caribbean Heart Pine comes from Caribbean pine (Pinus caribaea), native to Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, the Bahamas, and Cuba, and now widely planted elsewhere as a plantation species. It gets marketed right alongside true (Longleaf) Heart Pine for the shared look and use case, but make no mistake — it's a genuinely distinct species, not the same tree grown somewhere warmer.

Working Properties

Heartwood runs reddish-brown against clearly distinct yellowish-white sapwood, deepening into a richer reddish-brown as it ages. Working characteristics track closely with Longleaf heart pine — straightforward under typical woodworking tools, no surprises.

Typical Uses

Flooring, light and heavy construction, carpentry, utility poles, railroad ties, and boatbuilding.
