Moulding (Molding)

Moulding (molding) is strip stock shaped along its length to a decorative or functional cross-sectional profile, cut with a shaper, router table, or molding plane. It covers an enormous range of specific named profiles -- cove, ogee, roundover, chamfer, bullnose among many others -- each describing a distinct cross-sectional shape rather than a single specific tool or application.

Moulding shows up both structurally (a cornice capping a case, a baseboard finishing a wall-to-floor transition) and purely decoratively (a small applied profile dressing up an otherwise plain edge), and can be milled directly into the edge of a solid board or made as separate strip stock applied afterward.
